Created in 1971, the sculpture is made of steel plate embedded in walnut. I was inspired to create this work from my observations of the interaction between The Mercy Nuns at Gwynedd Academy and the children in their care. The statue is full of symbolisms. The Madonna & Child , A mother and fetus , also a nun in habit protecting a child.
