| Emergence
- a study representing two identical worlds
one white , one black. The white world , above ground,
the black world rising from the ground into and merging
with the white world. As sculpture the work , made of
corrosion resistant steel , is to be painted initially.
Left alone, the sculpture will shed its paint over time and
'emerge' as one color. The sculpture is intended to
achieve a height of sixteen feet. This sculpture was once
considered for public placement but was rejected because
it strongly resembled an elephant. Little did I realize
the sensitivities of its political symbolism. A lesson in
